Jujutsu Kaisen is a shonen manga by Gege Akutami, pre-published in Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine in March 2018 and published by publisher Shūeisha in bound volumes. An anime series adaptation produced by Studio Mappa aired between October 2020 and March 2021.

Jujutsu Kaisen is the top-selling manga in Japan in the fiscal year 2021, and the series’ total circulation stands at 70 million copies by August 2022. Jujutsu Kaisen Plot

Jujutsu Kaisen takes place in a world where plagues arise from the negative emotions of humans. Thus, to protect the places with a strong concentration of these emotions like the schools or the hospitals, these infrastructures have a relic, a receptacle of a plague, because one can fight against the plagues only with a more powerful plague.

These plagues are invisible to human eyes except for a handful of people, notably exorcists. The exorcist’s job in the anime consists of eliminating plagues and thus protecting the people from them. Yūji Itadori, a high school student with superhuman strength and a member of the spiritism club, one day finds an S-rank relic protected by a seal in his school. Sasaki and Iguchi, his friends from the club, stay at school in the evening to inspect the relic while Yūji is in the hospital where his grandfather has just passed away.

The relic they found is one of the fingers of Ryōmen Sukuna, the mightiest of plagues. Thus, upon releasing the finger from the seal, Sasaki and Iguchi get attacked by many other plagues attracted by that finger.

Sukuna’ Possession

Yūji, learning of the existence of the latter, returns as quickly as possible to the high school in the company of an exorcist to save his friends from the clutches of the plagues. During a confrontation with one of them, he swallows the courted finger.

By swallowing this relic, Ryōmen Sukuna takes possession of Yūji’s body, but this is only short-lived as the latter surprisingly manages to regain control over Sukuna. The exorcists, in order to protect the population effectively, decide to eliminate Yuji because having swallowed the relic’s finger, he gains power due to the presence of Sukuna in him.

It was without counting on the intervention of the most powerful of the exorcists, Satoru Gojo, who proposes to let Yuji be Sukuna’s receptacle and when he has swallowed all his fingers, he can be eliminated. So begins Yuji’s long adventure as a powerful exorcist!

It is scheduled to be released in 2023. We do not have enough information yet to give the exact date but no one doubts that it is impatiently awaited.

Jujutsu Kaisen The Manga contains 14 story arcs and the first season has adapted six of them. Season 1 concluded with the adaptation of the Death Painting arc, which means the second season will begin with the adaptation of Gojo’s Past arc.

This particular arc has about 14 chapters and revolves around the sorcerer’s life when he was a second-year student. At that time, Geto was his classmate, and the two were on a mission to escort the Star Plasma Vessel, which needed to reach Master Tengen.

However, the main focus of the second season will be the Shibuya Incident arc. This arc will focus on the curse users and curse spirits alliance that was formed by Geto and Mahito.
