It is said that ruthless, sturdy, rough and hard-boiled guys also cry. Not cries of joy but cries of sadness. This is shown in the biker-gang manga, Tokyo Revengers. The manga is full of charismatic characters but yet it is plagued with very sad moments. Those sad moments shall be our concern. I shall list the 10 sad moments in Tokyo Revengers. There may be some minor spoilers but even so, just pull a box of tissues close to you and join me for a sad walk down memory lane.
1. Takemitchi Witnessing Hinata Dying
The only goal he has, his spark, his driving force, is to save his once-forgotten lover. He gets to meet with her but then he witnesses how she dies in front of his eyes. Takemichi couldn’t do anything apart from crying for the dying lady he loves. This is one of the moments in Tokyo Revengers that was just too sad. It was just heartbreaking.
2. Atsushi Sendo Committing Suicide
Atsushi is one of Takemitchi’s sworn pals in the Tokyo Revengers manga. Same class and went through shit together. Turns out after Takemitchi’s first time travelling and surviving, he went to meet his old pal. There he was struck by his friend’s confession of pushing him on the train tracks and killing the girl he loves. After the confession, he threw himself off his own building. Being weak, acknowledging that weakness and choosing suicide as the escape solution is one of the saddest and most selfish reasons ever. Those left behind are burdened and traumatized by the suicide action. That’s one of the moments in Tokyo Revengers that was indeed a sad and tear breaker.
3. Hinata Asks Takemitchi the reason for their Break up
Another one of the Sad moments in Tokyo Revengers in our list is the questioning scene when Hinata asks Takemitchi for his break-up reason. What makes it sad is the outcome. You broke up with someone you love. Despite the fact that you moved on, everything brings you back to those happy moments with that person. The sad part of the story is that you don’t even know why you guys broke up. When you meet that person back every blessed thought rushes up, forcing tears down your chicks. You cry because you know you can’t get those days back. That confrontation between Hinata and Takemitchi in the park was too sad. (it clearly had to be on my list).
4. Atsushi Sendo’s Death after Killing Hinata
Another sad moment in Tokyo Revengers is this one. After Akkun’s death, Takemitchi went back in time to change things. He met back with his pal and exchanged dreams. When He came back to his time, things seemed to have changed. Akkun had his dream barbing shop and Hinata was alive. All that joy got turned upside-down by Akkun crashing into Hinata’s car. That scene happened in front of Takemitchi’s eyes. He witnessed Akkun dying once more. Really sad. The two people you wanted to save, die in front of you despite all your efforts. Just too sad
5. Takemitchi’s Breakdown
This moment almost made me shed a tear. Imagine you keep wanting to change a certain thing and despite all your efforts, it doesn’t work. Your hopes get high, with the fact you can make it; then get shattered by ultimate failure. Isn’t that just too sad? Well, that is what happens to our MC (Main Character) in Tokyo Revengers. He travels back in time to save his friends by changing the course of things. But he fails. He keeps on failing and then breaks down at a certain moment. Almost giving up. That moment touched me a lot. I couldn’t help but count it as one of the sad moments in Tokyo Revengers
6. Baji’s Death
This is one of the moments that did not only touch me but touched all Tokyo Revengers fans. Baji, one of the founders dies amidst his friends. He dies trying to show that Kisaki Tetta is the enemy. His death makes all of Toman weep heavily. If that isn’t sad, then I don’t know what being sad means.
7. All Toman High ups Dead
In one of Takemitchi’s reboots, Toman fights against the black dragons and wins. That is a major action and Takemitchi (and all the fans) is rather pleased. But when he comes back, all Toman high-ups are dead. (chapter 115)
This was just too sad, knowing how Takemitchi struggled so hard to win versus the black dragons. The saddest part is that Mikey is the one who killed them all. Definitely one of the saddest moments in Tokyo Revengers.
8. Evil Mikey Begging Takemitchi to Kill him
Still with the flow of sad moments in Tokyo Revengers, with this one being very particular. It presents Mikey as being invincible and also very kind but not a crybaby. But in this chapter (chapter 118) we see Mikey begging Takemitchi to kill him as an escape for what he has done. Mikey begs so much that he sheds tears. Isn’t that very sad? Indeed, it is certainly a sad moment in Tokyo Revengers.
9. Mikey’s Death
With Mikey begging to be killed, his wish was granted. While threatening Tekemitchi, he is shot by Naoto, Hinata’s younger brother (chapter 119). The invincible ‘Tokyo Revengers’, while dying, sadly reveals another part of him. Showing that, despite being strong, he was internally suffering all the time. Takemitchi couldn’t help but shed more tears. Really sad. Maybe the saddest moment in Tokyo Revengers.
10. Emma’s Abandonment
Emma is Mikey’s sister. She was dropped by at their grandfather’s dojo, promising Emma to come back for her (chapter 123). Though Emma had the feeling her mom wasn’t coming, she kept on hoping and waiting. And one day, she bursts into tears blaming herself for the departure of her mom (thumbs up for the mother of the year).
This moment in Tokyo Revengers kept me thinking. Parenting is clearly not an easy deal. A parent leaving her child to grow on her own is clearly depressing and too sad.
This ends the flow of Tokyo Revenger’s sad moments. Gangsters do cry. Gangsters also have feelings beneath their rugged nature. This is what I get from all these sad moments portrayed in Tokyo Revengers.
