The Gundam project started in 2014, and it took several years for designers to polish its mechanics before it was finally presented in December 2020.
The enormous Gundam will now remain open until March 31, 2024, as opposed to closing at the end of March 2023 as originally anticipated.
The one-year extension will undoubtedly comfort Gundam aficionados abroad who have been prevented from traveling to see the unique robot because of Covid-19 travel restrictions.

10. Zaku & Gundam Statue (Inagi)
Kunio Okawara is a native of Inagi City, which boasts two 1/5 size statues of the RX-78-2 Gundam and Zaku II from Mobile Suit Gundam as inspiration.
The city is quite fond of the renowned mechanical designer. The unveiling ceremony was held to honor Okawara’s creative output. Along with Okawara, city authorities, and Tohru Furuya, who plays Amuro Ray and Shuichi Ikeda, who plays Char Aznable, were present at the ceremony.
Although smaller than the 1:1 scale replica in Odaiba, the statues are nonetheless quite large at 3.6 meters. Since Okawara personally oversaw their construction, these monuments are remarkably accurate in their own right.
The RX-78-2’s position holding the shield and beam rifle is rather uncommon, according to Tohru Furuya, who was also quite taken with them. This is in contrast to the 18-meter one in Odaiba, which is shown to be weaponless.

Despite not having the same level of realism as the 1/1 Gundam statue, this bronze monument has an incredible appeal all its own. The statue is also one of the Gundam attractions worth checking out at any moment
