The Yokohama Museum of Art is one such attraction. This museum is one of Japan’s largest art institutions and it houses an extensive collection of modern and contemporary artworks both from Western artists and locals!

There are markers around the park that tell about the fascinating history of the hill. If you’re asking why it’s called France Yama, it’s because when the Yokohama port initially opened, various foreign nations deployed troops to invade through the port…Likewise, France did. On the summit of this hill, when they took control of the harbor, French marines established a post.
Despite the fact that Japan now fully owns the port and the land, a park was created and this hill was given the name “France Yama” in honor of Yokohama’s past.
