Did you Know Japan had a whole town dedicated to Captain Tsubasa aka Oliver Atom in Tokyo? And for those of you who don’t know the anime Captain Tsubasa, It’s all about a young guy named Tsubasa Oozura, together with Kojiro Hyuga, Taro Misaki and their friends who had a great passion for football. In order to attain their goals they have to go through hard work and definitely surpass many challenges. It was written and illustrated by Yōichi Takahashi since 1981.
Now that I have briefed you about this amazing anime, let’s take a tour of Champion Town in Tokyo
Where is Captain Tsubasa Town located?
This town is located in Katsushika, Tokyo and it’s equally the hometown of the author of the series.
What can you find in Captain Tsubasa Town?
In the town, you can find
- Bronze statues
- A restaurant with the characters of Captain Tsubasa
- Captain Tsubasa’s diorama
- A store that sells Captain Tsubasa products
- and eventually many other things.
As you walk across the city you will find many posters of Captain Tsubasa and there is even a big poster of Tsubasa Oozura in the fire Department
What are the Main attractions in Captain Tsubasa Town?
1. Bronze Statues
Some of the bronze statues in the town are:
- Kojiro Hyuga
- Oozora Tsubasa
- Roberto Hongo and Oozora Tsubasa
- Sanae Nakazawa
- Taro Misaki
- Genzo Wakabayashi
- Andres Iniesta & Tsubasa Ozora (Oliver Atom) ‘s statue

2. Captain Tsubasa Themed Restaurant
This is an Italian restaurant called Trattoria Avere. It’s decorated with Images of characters from the series.
The food there is also good. On the restaurant wall, there are drawings of:
- Tsubasa
- Taro Misaki
- Genzo Wakabayashi
- Kojiro Hyuga
- and many other characters from the series
3. Captain Tsubasa’s diorama
In Katsushika City Okudo Sogo Sports Center you will find a diorama of many symbolic scenes in the Captain Tsubasa series. For instance, you will find a diorama of the scene where Oozora shoots a ball under a bus and Genzo Wakabayashi catches it. Besides this, you will find many other scenes. This is one below.
4. Store: Captain Tsubasa Products
There is also a store where they sell official products of the series like jerseys, T-shirts and many other things. The office of the author (Yoichi Takahashi) is also found here on the second floor of the store. However, the store is usually closed on Sundays

How do I get to Captain Tsubasa Town?
You can go to Captain Tsubasa town either by Yotsugi or Keisei-Tateishi station. But I recommend you start at Yotsugi station since the official map also recommends you go there.
When are the Different Attractions in Captain Tsubasa Town open?
- Bronze statues: 24h
- Restaurant: Lunch time: 11:30-15:00(last order 14:30) and Dinner time: 17:30-22:30(last order 21:30)
- Diorama(Sport center): 9:00-21:00 . However, it’s closed the fourth Wednesday of each month or the next day if the fourth Wednesday is a holiday.
- Stores: Normally it is closed on Sundays but maybe the schedule has changed since then. This is the link to the store for more information.
Which attractions are near Captain Tsubasa Town?
There are some attractive areas near our Champion town which can take 20 minutes to reach there by train. We have Skytree and places in Asakusa.
