Famous anime attractions in Odaiba you shouldn’t miss.
Have you ever been to Odaiba? Odaiba is a popular shopping and entertainment district on a man-made island in Tokyo Bay.
Here you can find some related attractions and locations. I will guide you to some famous anime attractions in Odaiba you need to check out whenever you visit Japan. If you are ready let’s go
Anime attractions in Odaiba: Gundam
1. Scale Gundam Unicorn Statue
For mecha fans, it’s a dream coming true to see Banagher’s big boy in person. The spectacle anime attraction is when you see it transform into Destroy mode at night in a sound and light show.
Transforming light show every 30 min from 7:30 to 9:30.
2. Gundam Café
There is a mini Gundam cafe and shop behind the Unicorn. You can get pretty 1/144-scale Gundam pastries there. The Gundam Café shop is very cute and has items ranging from genuine Jaburo coffee to beam saber umbrellas.
3. Gundam Base
This Gundam Base is a big store and exhibition space where you can see how gunpla model kits are made.
Shingeki No Kyojin & Ghost In The Shell VR Games anime attractions
The mall right behind Gundam is DiverCity where you will find hexaRide, an immersive 360-degree VR experience. It’s just like you were in the story of Attack on Titan(volumes 9 and 10)
As for the Ghost in the Shell ride, you as a member of public security will have to help the mayor as you escort the defence minister and defend him from crypto-criminals.
You should try both VR Games before leaving the mall. It’s exquisite.
Real-life locations of Animes
Akihabara and Yotsuya where you can find some places where some anime took place (real-life location of the anime Steins;Gate and Steins;Gate 0 and Your name) so is Odaiba. In the image below you can see one of the settings of the anime Digimon and its real life location
Anime Stores
As for stores and anime shops, you will find many places in Odaiba where you can buy some souvenirs for your whole family. Let’s begin shopping(It’s one of my favourite activities besides writing).
1. Anime attractions: Kinnikuman shop
Kinnikuman, named after the manga series is one of the anime shops you will find in Odaiba and where you can buy everything from t-shirts to boxers, figures to posters. If you notice well the shop walls contain art from the series
2. JUMP Shop
DiverCity houses a JUMP Shop, a store dedicated to all things Shonen Jump. It has tons of goods from across many Jump series like Dr Stone, Black Clover and Demon Slayer (Kimetsu No Yaiba), One Piece and Dragon Ball.
In the Jump Shop, you can find stuff from old and new series. Here’s what to expect:
- Keychains
- Badges and pins
- Plush
- T-shirts
- Mugs
- and many others.
3. Doraemon Store
This store opened recently on December 1, 2019, so make sure to pay a visit at least once. Doraemon Store has everything you can expect from a theme store like
- Collectibles
- Figures
- Apparel
This marks the end of our tour. I hope you took many pictures and brought many souvenirs.
Equally don’t forget to check some anime embroidery artwork here. You may come across something you like.
