Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Movie Review
Japanese animated dark fantasy film Jujutsu Kaisen 0 (also known as “Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie”) was released in 2021. It is based on the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 manga series, which is a precursor to the Jujutsu Kaisen manga series. Gege Akutami is the creator of both manga series. Starring Megumi Ogata, Kana Hanazawa, Mikako Komatsu, Kiki Uchiyama, Tomokazu Seki, Yuichi Nakamura, and Takahiro Sakurai, it was directed by Sunghoo Park and written by Hiroshi Seko.
The movie, which was made by MAPPA, centres on teenage student Yuta Okkotsu, who enlists the help of other accomplished sorcerers in training to try to manage the Cursed Spirit of his childhood buddy Rika Orimoto.
Jujutsu Kaisen Movie Storyline
Yuuta Okkotsu is haunted. Ever since his childhood friend Rika died in a traffic accident, her ghost has stuck with him. But her spirit does not appear as the sweet girl Yuuta once knew. Instead, she manifests as a monstrous and powerful entity who fiercely protects him. Unable to control Rika’s violent behavior, Yuuta is helpless to stop the bloodshed that follows from her brutal vengeance. As a result, when apprehended by “Jujutsu” sorcerers–the secret guardians of the world, trained to combat forces like Rika–Yuuta wishes to be completely isolated so that no one else can get hurt. Yet his apprehender, the master sorcerer Satoru Gojou, has different plans for him: he will join Jujutsu High School and learn to control Rika in order to help people.
Now a first-year at this school, Yuuta starts to learn Jujutsu arts and combat malignant beings. Alongside his new classmates Maki Zenin, a Jujutsu weapons expert; Toge Inumaki, a spellcaster who uses his words as weapons; and Panda, a seemingly walking and talking panda bear, Yuuta begins to find his place in the world and, for once, to feel comfortable with his abilities. However, as his training progresses, Yuuta comes to learn that the dangers of the Jujutsu world go far beyond that of wicked spirits.

Jujutsu Kaisen Movie 0 Review
The prequel to the well-liked anime series Jujutsu Kaisen, based on Gege Akutami’s manga, nearly tripled its box office earnings over the course of opening weekend, challenging the record-breaking Demon Slayer movie for the top spot.
That wasn’t a holiday miracle. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 succeeds where many prequels fall short by telling an engaging independent tale that complements and relates to the main series’ plot while also embracing newcomers to the genre.
Yuta Okkotsu
The protagonist Yuta Okkotsu is considerably dissimilar from Yuji; whilst the latter is a hyper-energetic extrovert with the kind of strength and stamina that would make Batman envious. Nevertheless, it is impossible to ignore the parallels between the TV show’s and Jujutsu Kaisen 0’s plots.
It nearly seems like the film doubles as a prequel and a remake. a pre-make? Requel? Whatever you want to call it, this 105-minute film hits many of the same notes as the show by introducing the audience to the realm of Jujutsu sorcery and Cursed Spirits, etc. through the use of an outsider living weapon character.
For devoted followers, there is a lot to enjoy here. Yuta Okkotsu is not a brand-new character, for one thing; although he has been referenced in the show a few times, this is his first on-screen appearance.
Rika Orimoto
Since it turns out that Yuta’s childhood sweetheart, Rika, is the powerful Curse that clung to him, he is given a gorgeously tragic tale. After dying in a vehicle accident, the sweet, caring girl changed into a fang-faced, snake-haired monster who, while not having the most horrifying appearance, more than makes up for it with the way she behaves.
The contrast between the cursed Rika’s horrifying appearance and her sweet but occasionally capricious, childlike demeanor makes her one of the most memorable Jujutsu Kaisen cursed spirits ever. For example, when she speaks to Yuta in a child’s voice about how much she loves him or kills bullies without seeming to feel bad about it.
Suguru Geto
Suguru Geto, the movie’s antagonist, receives more screen time than he did on Jujutsu Kaisen, when he primarily took a backseat to the show’s Big Bad Mahito. But in Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Geto is given the spotlight, which he then savors the most.
Geto is a really entertaining opponent who finally gets a chance to fully express himself in the film. It is understandable why Curses and other sorcerers would be drawn to him and how his upbeat demeanor while attempting to execute crimes would enrage the movie’s primary characters.

He and Yuta get into a heated argument as a result. Against Geto’s enormous Curses, which include a Blob kaiju made of fat demon babies, the camera movement attempts to simulate the feeling of a regular-sized character moving with lightning speed.
Yuta’s sudden rage adds a whole new layer to the experience. However, that is to be anticipated from fight scenes directed by Sunghoo Park, who is best known for the God of High School anime series and its breathtaking clashes. The 105-minute running time of the film is more than enough to satisfy Jujutsu fans.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is Benefic to Newcomers
Jujutsu Kaisen 0, however, will be most beneficial to newbies. Given that the movie is based on a manga that really comes before the Jujutsu Kaisen comic, the prequel is essentially Jujutsu Kaisen reduced to its most approachable aspects.
This single short series about Curses and Jujutsu Sorcerers was first published as Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School in the 2017 issue of Jump GIGA, and it was intended to end after only four chapters.
However, it quickly attracted enough attention for Gege Akutami to develop its premise and the world he had only hinted at in the initial comic, leading to the eventual creation of Yuji Itadori and the tale that captivated the entire globe.
