Platinum End embarks us in its universe in which there is a royal battle for God’s replacement. The candidates chosen have something in common; they feel tired of the world they live in and are about to commit suicide. Thirteen angels selected thirteen humans for the battle and named them God candidates. Depending on their rank, the angels granted God candidates with the powers of Wings, Red Arrows, and White Arrows. Second-rank angels can grant either Wings or Red Arrows. First-rank angels grant both Wings and Red Arrows, while special-rank angels award all three powers. This includes that they have the same powers, but the strongest Platinum End characters are those capable of using their artifacts properly.
Some ‘non-God candidates’ by their prowess in combat, earn their places in this ranking. According to my appreciation, these are the strongest Platinum End characters:
- Shuji Nakaumi
- Yuri Temari
- Hajime Sokotani
- Ryuji Bakamatsu
- Fuyuko Kohinata
- Saki Hanakago
- Nanato Mukaido
- Gaku Yoneda
- Mirai Kakehashi
- Kanade Uryu
WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Platinum End
10. Shuji Nakaumi
Nakaumi is a young and straightforward person. He has a strange belief; he thinks that to commit suicide, someone must have a strong desire to do so.
When he got approached by the angel Ogaro, he used his red arrows to assist his parents and grandfather in suicide by ordering them to carry out their suicidal desires. Nakaumi also had the white arrows and wings making him one of the strongest Platinum End characters.

9. Yuri Temari
Angel Yazeli chose Yuri as his God candidate but sadly she couldn’t care about the God election and just wanted to live freely. She uses the red arrows to have a powerful influence on social media, and gain popularity and a lot of money.
8. Hajime Sokotani
He appeared to be unattractive and rejected by society. He had many blemishes on his face, chapped and dry lips, and crooked teeth. Hajime had to undergo plastic surgery to have a better appearance, but still could not attract women because of his poor communication skills and zero self-esteem.
Hajime is one of the strongest platinum end characters as he is skilled with blades and quick to dodge gunfire. Outside of these abilities, the angel Balta chose him as one of the God candidates and gave him a pair of wings and red arrows.
Hajime idolizes Metropoliman as he is good-looking, courageous, intelligent, and confident, all his contrary and therefore approaches him as an ally.

7. Ryuji Bakamatsu
In Episode 11 of Platinum End, Metropoliman assembles a deadly squad to destroy the other God candidates. Ryuji Bakamatsu, one of the strongest Platinum End characters, took part in the team. He was a military servant who got a pair of wings from Metropoliman to become his ally.
He is a ruthless and bloodthirsty character as he carries heavy machine guns and even rocket launchers as his weapons.
6. Fuyuko Kohinata
A pharmaceutical researcher who developed a deadly airborne virus. She’s one of Metropoliman allies and received a pair of wings and a set of red arrows. What makes her one of the strongest Platinum End characters is her intelligence and her ability to create harmful biological weapons which she used on other God candidates.
5. Saki Hanakago
She is Mirai’s childhood friend and classmate for whom he has romantic feelings. Everyone bullied Mirai at school and Saki started bullying him too but later on felt so bad about it and wanted to commit suicide. The Angel Revel rescued her and she became her competitor.
After becoming a God candidate, she didn’t want to kill anyone, hence more willing to manipulate people with the red arrow.

4. Nanato Mukaido
Mukaido is a man with an outrageous sense of justice and is ready to accomplish the impossible in order to protect his family. He is a God candidate cursed with terminal cancer.
His determination to compete comes from his worries about his family’s future. He manipulated powerful figures using the Red Arrows and earned 200 million yen in cash to secure his family.
He showed signs of cleverness when Metropoliman staged the Jinbo Stadium meeting. Mukaido pierced fourteen detectives and psychologists and sent them to the meeting to bust other candidates hidden in the crowd.
They were successful in finding three: Mirai Kakehashi, Saki Hanakago, and another young boy candidate. Mukaido participates in the final battle against Metropoliman and he is the one who delivers him the final blow before losing his life minutes later.

3. Gaku Yoneda
Yoneda is a major antagonist of the series. He is a Japanese scientist named the smartest person on earth. He is very intelligent and undoubtedly one of the strongest Platinum End characters.
He’s a retired professor at Tokyo University and he also was one of the youngest to win a Nobel Prize in both Literature and Physics. Yoneda even attempted to find the meaning of life and the purpose of humanity. The angel Muni who offered him full powers accompanied him.
2. Mirai Kakehashi
He is the main protagonist of the series. He is the chosen God candidate of the angel Nasse in the competition to become the next God. Mirai is an intelligent teenager gifted with all three powers. Once Mirai has decided to do something he usually follows it till the end. This is an important characteristic he has that acts as his strength and immensely helps him.
With his pair of wings, he has a huge advantage against opponents who do not have this power and can only attack from the ground. Having good mobility is one of the basic strengths that all candidates need and Mirai certainly makes full use of it, making him one of the strongest platinum end characters.
Recommendation: 10 famous Anime Voice Actors in Japan
1. Kanade Uryu
Metropoliman is the first major antagonist and leads the strongest Platinum End characters ranking. Additionally, he is the human selected by the angel Meyza to be a God candidate. Just like Mirai, Kanade possesses wings and red and white arrows.
Combined with this, his thirst to be the next God and his ability to wipe out anyone in cold blood. Kanade also can fire two arrows with a 0.33-second delay between firing by materializing the second arrow right after the first.
This ability makes him very strong and feared by other candidates. Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, he’s an arrogant and merciless human being. He despises anything that’s ugly. He finally died while fighting against Mirai, helped by various allies.
Which character was elected ‘The Next God’?
You would probably hope that it should be one of the strongest Platinum End characters to replace God. You’re right and the true identity of god is split among the god candidates but not the most expected. Neither Mirai nor Kanade received the God title.
At the end of the god-choosing process, everyone elects Shuji Nakuami and his body merges with God’s one. During the fusion process, God and the angels discuss with Shuji and reveal to him the secrets of the Celestial Realm.
