8. Tokyo Ghoul

Tokyo Ghoul is a Japanese dark fantasy series written and illustrated by Sui Ishida. The anime is all about a Tokyo college student named Ken Kaneki, who manages to have a date with a hot girl.

Unfortunately, the girl turns out to be a ghoul, a carnivorous and cannibalistic species, capable of nourishing human flesh and also other ghouls.

The date ends up with the girl having Kaneki for a meal. He is taken to the hospital in critical condition. After recovery, Kaneki discovers he has been transformed into a semi-ghoul. 

The anime has 4 seasons. It is most likely that the fifth season might not happen, as the fourth season ends on a note which concludes the tense events of the previous three seasons.

The movie, made by Makoto Shinkai, revolves around a young high school girl, Mitsuha, who lives in Itomori, a fictional village in Japan. Tired of her country life, she once made a wish… that of being a Tokyo boy in her next life. She suddenly and inexplicably swapped bodies with a Tokyo young high school boy, Taki Tachibana.

Being in each other’s body, they have to live each other’s life and it will be beneficial for them as Mitsuha in Taki’s body has a date with a girl and Taki in Mitsuha’s body becomes very popular in school.

They discover they can communicate by leaving messages on paper or through a phone and sometimes on each other’s skin. What’s the mystery living behind this sudden magic swap?

6. Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure

The manga relates the story of the Joestar family throughout several generations. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is split into parts with independent stories and distinct characters.

Each of the series’s protagonists is a member of the Joestar family and possesses strong psychic powers, enabling them to fight against people trying to dominate the world. 

The anime begins in the 19th century in England, where Lord Joestar adopts a young boy named Dio Brando. Dio is a sociopath and makes Jonathan’s (the natural son of Lord Joestar) life a living hell.

One day Dio finds a stone mask from the ancient Aztec civilization wears it and gets transformed into a vampire. His evil powers lead to a desire to rule the world and Jonathan tries to stop him. 5. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba

Demon Slayer is a Japanese anime series based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge. It shows a family attacked and killed by a demon.

Two members survive the demon attack, Tanjiro Kamado and his sister Nezuko. Tanjiro swears to become a demon slayer in order to avenge his family and to cure Nezuko, who is slowly becoming a demon after receiving a wound from the demon attack. 

Demon Slayer currently comprises two seasons, with a movie sandwiched in between. The first season, released in 2019, is 26 episodes long and the second season, has 7 episodes. A third season was confirmed and actually has 10 episodes.

Demon Slayer was serialized in Shueisha’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020, with its chapters collected in twenty-three volumes.

Castlevania is an American anime series based on a Japanese video game produced by Konami. In this anime, Vlad Tepes aka Dracula sets up an army of monsters from hell and declares the people of Wallachia will pay their lives after they have burnt his wife, falsely accused of witchcraft.

Dracula even seeks to destroy humanity. Trevor Belmont, the last survivor of the Belmont clan, is the one trying to stop Dracula’s terrible plan.

The story is mainly about Light Yagami, a teen genius who once discovered a mysterious book named ”Death Note”. The book provides its user with the supernatural ability to kill anyone just by writing his or her name on any of the pages.

To spread justice, Light uses the book to kill high-profile criminals and any other person he considers to be immoral using strategic means. The population, happy with this, vow a cult to the mysterious force or person behind this and even consider him as a God, attributing to him the name of ” Kira ”.

Not knowing the cause of this massive amount of dead, an elite Japanese police force led by one of the smartest characters ever seen nicknamed “L”, investigates who is behind all this and how are the murders achieved. A battle between the two Japanese greatest minds then begins!

2. Hunter X Hunter

Hunter x Hunter is an intelligent battle anime with excellent characters and fights involving a lot of strategies. The story focuses on Gon Freecs who was brought up parentless, knowing they are dead.

Gon later discovers that his father, who left him at a young age, is still alive and is actually a world-renowned and accomplished hunter. He desires to become a professional hunter too, convinced that by doing so, he will meet his father.

Gon challenges the Hunter Examination as the first step to walk the same path his father took. This is surely one of the best anime on Netflix UK which features hot fights.

Currently, there are six seasons of Hunter x Hunter. The sixth season premiered in 2014, and since then, fans have been waiting for season 7 as the anime came to an abrupt end in 2014.

This was because of the anime catching up to the manga series, which led to author Yoshihiro Togashi taking a break for health reasons but Hunter x Hunter may return from a long hiatus.

1. Attack on Titan: Shingeki no Kyojin

These creatures nearly exterminated humans and the few per cent of them still alive, survive by walling themselves behind three enormous walls which protect them from titan attacks.

One day, they witness a terrifying scene. A colossal titan made a large entry through the first protective wall and smaller titans passed through to feed on the population.

After his hometown is destroyed and his mother killed, young Eren Jaeger, the main protagonist, vows to cleanse the earth of all titans as an act of revenge for humankind.

The show comprises four seasons and the fourth season is broken into multiple parts. You can watch Attack on Titan season four on Netflix UK entirely.
