There are different types of Titans in Attack on Titans, having different abilities which makes it all the more interesting.

A titan is generally a person or thing with great strength. According to Greek mythology, a titan is a descendant of Gaia and Uranus, they are powerful deities who ruled the earth during the legendary golden age.

What is Attack on Titans?

Attack on Titan is a Japanese manga series which has an ongoing anime adaptation. It is centered around the life of a young man named Eren Yeager and his companions who live in a world threatened by huge giants called Titans.

Everything was peaceful before they appeared on Earth and started feeding on humans. Humans had to build large and huge walls and hide in them. Growing up, Eren and his companions heard about life beyond the walls and wanted to explore it and know what it really feels like.

Unfortunately for them, all that thrill ended when a 60m tall titan showed up and ruined the peace they had been experiencing.

Eren and his companions took it upon themselves to fight and eradicate every Titan from the face of the earth. The different types of Titans in Attack on Titans have interesting explorable activities.

How Many Types of Titans are there in Attack on Titans?

Going through the story, we see the appearance of many different titans with different characteristics. Despite the fact that they have different characteristics, one thing they have in common is that they all have the urge to devour humans.

Not really because they derive any food-based sustenance from them. All they are out to do is to eat humans. There are a total of 11 different types of Titans in Attack on Titans.

What are the Different Types of Titans in AOT?

Another thing which differentiates Titans from one another is their resistance to pain. Some don’t feel any at all while others writhe in pain. There are 11 types of Titans and they are;

Pure Titans

Pure Titans are the most observed Titans throughout both the manga and anime series. They look like humans but are more enlarged. Their height range is from 2 to 15 meters.

They are one of the strongest Titans but lack the ability to form or process thoughts and have been used as weapons of war since their existence. The only way to kill them is by slashing their napes with two swords and separating them from their spines.

Abnormal Titans

They are pure Titans who display unusual behavior and forms of intelligence. Some of them are even able to utter human tongues.

They are able to make unpredictable moves during a fight and are out to destroy to the maximum. In addition to their intelligence, they are able to leap great heights, run and speed-walk.

The Nine Titans

They are one of the most intelligent Titans because even after transformation, they are able to retain their human intelligence. They usually have different abilities based on the Nine Titan powers which have been passed down from generation to generation.

Each of them has distinct names and abilities even though they can all transform to their inherited Titan at will. This opens the doors to really advanced abilities.

Founding Titan

The founding Titan is the first of all Titans to create, control and modify other Titans. This ability contributes to them being the strongest Titans.

According to the history of Titans, their power can only be exploited by members of the royal family. Their standing height is about 13 meters though they can grow bigger when they are at full strength.

Armored Titan

Armored Titans pay a lot of resemblance to their human forms. They have thick and hardened plates all over their bodies which act as natural defenses against external attacks to them. Also, they are able to harden their arms and feet which create sharp claws.

The only blindspots of weakness are the areas on the back of its joints which have no armor. Despite its incredible strength, there is a level of pressure which it cannot withstand. For example, the high power weapons of the Mid-East forces artillery.

Attack Titan

The Attack Titans are incredible. Their ability to receive memories from past and future inheritors. It is like they are able to transcend time.

These memories they get are usually incomplete which hinders the present user from getting the bigger picture. Attack titans are about 15 meters tall and have a muscular build with fleshless jaws.

They don’t particularly have any unique abilities but can be given the hardening ability with a specialized serum.

Beast Titan

This Titan is usually slightly bigger than the other Titans. They exhibit animal traits which greatly depend on the user. The beast Titan usually displays traits of birds, wolves and bulls amongst others.

Some of the Titans in this class have abilities not common to others of the same class. For example, Zeke Yeager’s beast Titan can accurately throw objects and has a very destructive capability.

Cart Titan

The cart Titan is the weakest of all the Titans but will still strike fear in the heart of any human just because it is a Titan. Despite the fact that it is the weakest Titan, it has the highest endurance which permits the user to stay transformed for longer periods of time.

It is also one of the fastest Titans. Cart Titans are quadrupedal in form as opposed to other Titans who are bipedal and Their form hinders them from walking upright.

Colossal Titan

The colossal Titan has the incredible ability to control the energy produced during their transformation. They are really huge and what makes them so dangerous is the heat which exudes their bodies when they are transforming.

The heat is so high that it can melt the flesh of a human. They are one of the strongest but slowest Titans in the series.

Female Titan

The female titan is not very strong but has some abilities identical to those of the founding titan. She is able to control pure titans to a certain degree by a scream-based ability and attract them to herself. This titan is also able to harden its skin and has great endurance and mobility.

Jaw Titan

This titan has incredibly strong jaws and can tear through anything with little stress at all. It is really fast and can catch some of the nine off guards with its tremendous speed. The jaws of a jaw titan can crush many forms of armor and still inflict significant damage to its opponent.

War Hammer Titan

The war hammer Titan has the ability to control and produce structures made with titan flesh. It can weaponise them and make them into weapons like spikes and blades. That control is its superpower. It is one of the strongest Titans and the last type of Titan in attack on Titans to appear.

Who is the main Titan in Attack on Titan

Many important titans showed up in the course of the series with significant roles. Attack on Titans’ main titan is Eren Yeager. He is the main character of the series and is able to use the founder Titan, Attack Titan and ends up as a war hammer titan.
